These regulations are applicable to the entire Maréis site, an establishment classified ERP 1st category, visitors, people or groups authorized to use certain premises for meetings, receptions, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, shows or various ceremonies, and any person outside the service present in the establishment for professional reasons.
Our mission is to provide full satisfaction to our public throughout the visit. The safety of visitors is essential and our staff constantly adapts to government recommendations as well as the constraints inherent to the development of Maréis. All of our teams are trained and made aware of the evacuation or confinement of the public in the event of acts of great malice, fire or terrorist attacks.
In order to guarantee an optimal visit, we thank the public for carefully following the instructions in our visit regulations which exist in French and English.
Article 1: General regulations
The implementation of these regulations is ensured by personnel authorized to enforce their provisions by sending instructions to visitors. In the event of non-compliance with these and in particular when the observed breaches endanger the safety of property and people, Maréis staff assesses the need to expel the offender(s).
Maréis is open:
From April to September: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., every day
From October to March: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., closed Sunday morning
Cash registers close 1 hour before the site closes.
Maréis is required to close completely during certain periods of the year for work and maintenance, these periods are indicated on the website: www.mareis.fr
In the event of excessive crowds, disturbances and any situation endangering the safety of people and property, the sale of tickets may be partially or totally stopped or entries into Maréis or the total or partial closure of the site at any time of the day, or the modification of opening hours. No reimbursement of entry tickets can be claimed within the framework of the application of this article.
Tickets and any other rights are non-exchangeable, non-refundable, revocable and void if altered. The ticket must be used by the same person during its validity period. Unless otherwise stated, the ticket is only valid for one entry. Visitors are asked to present the support allowing exit and re-entry into Maréis. Resale of tickets is prohibited on site and/or on the web or any other location.
Visitors are subject to the establishment’s general conditions of sale.
Apart from the rules of calm and courtesy which are imposed on each visitor, it is specifically requested to:
Respect for the place
Do not affix graffiti, inscriptions, marks, dirt or damage anywhere in Maréis. A person caught in the act may be expelled without reimbursement. Maréis grants himself full legal rights. Do not throw anything into the pools. Do not hang anything above the pools.
Ban behavior likely to degrade any element of the visit route or to voluntarily practice this deterioration.
Soft skills
Don’t run.
Wear appropriate business attire in all circumstances.
For everyone’s comfort, it is strictly forbidden to smoke cigarettes, electronic cigarettes or any other product emitting vapor throughout the building.
Give priority to people with reduced mobility in places reserved for their use.
Do not disturb other visitors by any noisy event, in particular by listening to radios or music played on amplified speakers.
Do not spit in the water of ground aquariums or throw chewing gum.
Security
Do not leave children unsupervised, otherwise Maréis cannot be held responsible. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a visitor aged 18 or older to enter the site and complete the visit. Any lost child is entrusted to a host who takes them to the site’s reception hall.
Do not cross safety barriers or ladders; do not sit, stand on the railings or guardrails or place children on the edges of the touch pool.
Do not lean or lean a child above the surface of the water.
Respect all the specific instructions and prohibition signs placed along the tour route.
Report any accident, discomfort of a person or abnormal event to a security agent. In the event of discomfort or accident, victims are treated by Maréis SST-trained staff. It is forbidden to move the sick or injured person, give them something to drink or administer any medication before help arrives. If among the visitors a doctor, a nurse or a first aid worker with proof of his quality intervenes, he remains with the sick or injured person until his evacuation; he is asked to leave his name and address to the surveillance officer present on site.
Do not obstruct, for any reason whatsoever, firefighter access routes, fire hydrants and, more generally, equipment involved in the safety of the site, building and the public. At the start of a fire, the utmost calm must be observed. Everyone is required to lend a hand to staff when the assistance of visitors is required, in accordance with article R642-1 of the penal code.
All people, all bags, packages or other items may be subject to a security check at the entrance to the site, but also inside, depending on the circumstances or in response to requests made by the authority public.
We reserve the right to prohibit visitors from bringing bags, packages or other items into Maréis. These two clauses can be integrated into the article below.
Article 2: Prohibited items
Equipment with wheels, such as skateboards, bicycles, skates or even shoes with integrated wheels.
Strollers larger than the following dimensions: 92 cm x 132 cm (36 in. x 52 in.). Strollers, dimensions suitable for the visit, can be loaned in exchange for proof of identity at the site reception.
Any type of trailer or cart.
Suitcases, coolers and backpacks, with or without wheels, exceeding the following dimensions: 61 cm in length x 38 cm in width x 46 cm in height (24 in. x 15 in. x 18 in.).
Alcoholic beverages or any illegal substances.
Weapons of all types, or objects that can be used as weapons (even if they are fictitious or harmless), nor any dangerous object or product.
Article 3: Animals
Pets or other animals are prohibited, except assistance animals in accordance with the prefectural decree of March 25, 2004. Assistance animals must remain under the control of their owner at all times, on a leash or harness.
Article 4: Use of cameras
Do not use flashes.
Professional photography, film shooting, recording of radio or television programs are subject to specific prior authorization from the head of the Department.
Article 5: Respect for animals and facilities
Do not knock on the aquarium windows and do not use objects or products likely to damage them (keys, jewelry, perfume, etc.).
Do not throw projectiles against the aquarium windows or approach a heat source (lighter flame, hot source lamp).
Do not throw or drop anything into the aquariums (paper, rubbish, coins, etc.), and if this happens, report it immediately to Maréis staff.
Do not shout or make sounds that could frighten animals.
Do not dazzle animals with flashes, laser pointers, various lights such as torches or cell phones.
Do not bully or make sudden actions towards animals that you can touch, nor take them out of the water. Do not try to hold back an animal that is trying to move away, nor block its path.
Do not feed animals. Do not cross barriers.
Do not immerse any parts of the body other than the hands in aquariums reserved for this purpose.
Article 6: Hygiene
Do not eat and drink outside areas reserved for this purpose (hall, picnic rooms).
Do not leave leftover food or packaging behind. Selective sorting bins are available to visitors to collect waste and garbage.
Article 7: Personal effects
Visitors are responsible for their personal belongings, including clothing, bags, glasses, cameras, etc. without recourse against Maréis in the event of disappearance or damage.
Article 8: Provisions relating to groups
For greater visit comfort and better distribution of groups over the entire day, prior reservation is required for groups of 20 or more people, including the leader or accompanying guide. Direct groups will not be able to benefit from a specific commercial agreement.
Groups are admitted to Maréis upon presentation of an entry permit for each member of the group at access control. Upon arrival, the group leader must go to the cash desk with the reservation confirmation which has been sent to them in advance. He must provide a means of payment and proof of identity in the event of payment by check. He must know the actual size of the group. Any excess tickets purchased will not be refunded. He is told when his group can enter the exhibition.
Independent group visits are carried out under the guidance of a manager who undertakes to ensure compliance with all of these regulations and to guarantee group discipline.
Visitors in groups must under no circumstances disturb other visitors. Each member of the group remains close to the leader.
School groups are under the responsibility of their teacher(s) and/or chaperone(s) who must monitor the behavior of their students.
Article 9: Special visits and workshops
Visits and workshops other than the exhibition visit are possible. These activities are supervised by Maréis and fall under specific regulations which are communicated when booking. These regulations complement the internal regulations.
Article 10 : WIFI
Maréis offers free Wi-Fi. In accordance with law n°2006-6 of January 23, 2006, Maréis keeps connection data for a period of 12 months (decree 2006-358). Internet browsing is filtered by software that limits or prohibits access to certain sites (pornography, gambling, violence, racial discrimination, phishing sites, piracy, etc.).
Maréis declines all responsibility for services accessible via the Internet which have not been filtered and has no obligation concerning the nature of the Internet network (technical performance, response time, consultation, querying or transfer of information , disconnections during use, etc.). Also, the user agrees to use wifi and Internet services:
- In compliance with laws relating to the protection of minors (articles 227-23 and 227-24 of the penal code).
- In compliance with laws relating to copyright and related rights (intellectual property code).
- In compliance with laws relating to computers, files and freedoms (articles 323-1 to 7 of the Penal Code).
- In compliance with the rules relating to the protection of private life and in particular the right to the image of others.
